If you’re looking into DOOH advertising in San Francisco, you’ll find a city that works differently from most US markets. The “City of Fog” banned new general-advertising billboards outright back in 2002 (read up on  Proposition G), so the classic freeway billboard is a shrinking, grandfathered category here.

While the number of billboards in SF no longer grows, other DOOH advertising formats, particularly those at street level, have surged in their place. From bus shelters and urban panels to office buildings,  these all sit outside the ban as they're either on-site signage, transit property, or street furniture, rather than off-site general advertising. And CAASie can provide access to them all.

Notable vendors operating in the Bay Area include Clear Channel Outdoor, OUTFRONT Media, Screenverse + Apparatix Billboards, and Intersection (which runs the BART transit network), among others.

So where will you find me in San Francisco?

Due to the 2002 ban, we know that freeway-facing billboards are lighter in number here than in other big cities. What I do have here in San Francisco, though, concentrates on the US-101/Bayshore corridor and the I-80 approach to the Bay Bridge. These are both grandfathered billboard positions that publishers like Clear Channel and OUTFRONT hold onto tightly.

Whether your audience is catching the bus, heading up to the office, grabbing a coffee, or shopping, CAASie can put you in front of them. Bus stops, building lobbies and elevators, convenience stores, and the Ingka Centres shopping mall make up the core of what's available across San Francisco.
