There are fewer DOOH advertising billboards in San Francisco than you might expect in a major city of its size. The city banned the installation of any new off-site general advertising signs since 2002, when voters passed Proposition G with 78% support. While existing billboards installed before the ban are grandfathered in and can still run ads, no new billboards can be built. This is why San Francisco's DOOH market is so reliant upon transit, street furniture and other formats instead.
